Stanford epidemiologist takes aim at FDA approving vaccinations for children and Dr. Fauci’s latest statements on masks.
“I don’t think there is any good reason to vaccinate kids that young.. Kids face a vanishingly small risk from Covid itself; near zero mortality from covid. At the same time they haven’t really tested the vaccine on enough children to know with any confidence what the serious adverse event rate is. Anything more than zero and the balance just doesn’t work. Why would I vaccinate my kid against a disease for whom it isn’t all that deadly and there might be serious adverse events. I think it is a mistake to think about this as good for kids. It is not good for kids.
I have young children myself right around that age. I don’t think it is good for my kids to get that vaccine. I’ve vaccinated my kids with every other vaccine… For this vaccine it doesn’t make sense to me why I should vaccinate my children when the risks are so low for them.
Interviewer: Dr. Fauci has claimed mask mandates smothered the flu this season. Dr. Bhattacharya is that correct?”
He’s just wrong. He’s just dead wrong. Sweden for instance has not masked up at all. Or very small fraction of the Swedish population masked up during this epidemic. The flu disappeared there. The flu has disappeared worldwide for reasons we don’t fully understand. It is not masks that have led to the disappearance of the flu. Something else, there’s more than a dozen randomized evaluations going back decades on the use of face masks to stop the flu in various settings, including health care settings, and they are all negative. There just isn’t any evidence that supports what Dr. Fauci just said.”
